The use of microscopes helps my students explore micro-organisms. They have had the opportunity to look at prepared slides and are intrigued at the possibility to make their own slides from the plants and pond outside the school. Every time we look at slides, they ask so many questions about viruses, bacteria, cells, and other tiny bits of life.
Sometimes, curriculum overlooks the involvement of Special Education students. The use of microscopes has allowed my students to feel successful and accomplished. They enjoy the challenge of making slides and discovery process. They have made movies with their phones of the things they have seen through the lens of microscope. What a great social media post!
