The K2 and 1st grade students in my room have all been identified with an emotional or behavioral disability. While this is the reason they have been placed in in my classroom, I am very grateful to spend each day with them. They enjoy coloring, puzzles, and play-doh. They are intrigued by counting and shapes. They love following and echoing as "Big Echo" or "Baby Echo" introduces a new letter sound or letter formation. My students know the schedule in our classroom by heart, each participating and transitioning between parts of our day better each day. My students love Science and the playground. We are part of a K-8 building in which many of the students come from low-income families and communities. My students are bused across the city in order to receive the appropriate services within my classroom, many sitting on the bus for an hour each morning and afternoon. Nonetheless they are fantastic singers and dancers, learning how to be respectful friend and citizens of out school.
