The school is located in an inpatient adolescent drug and alcohol treatment center. Students are between the ages of 13 and 18. Many are dealing not only with their own drug use but family histories of drug use. The students come to us with unique school experiences and needs. By the time they arrive in our schools, most of our young people have accumulated substantial negative histories with school engagement, and their engagement is further threatened by challenges with transportation, community safety, family crisis, alcohol and drug use, and history of trauma. These factors have led to significant gaps in learning and severe credit deficiency for many students. Many students do not have access to this type of technology outside of school.
