To properly teach two languages, a teacher needs a variety of materials and texts in both languages. Unfortunately, not many materials are created in Spanish. I have searched with no success. I especially find it hard to find interesting and fun Spanish texts to read out loud to my students.
I know my students will enjoy the book I chose for them. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is well loved when I read it in English. I know my students will love it when we read it in Spanish. My wish is that this project be funded to provide Spanish texts for my students to follow along with me while I read.
I have also requested a class subscription to the Scholastic magazine, Storyworks.
