A new classroom rug will create an inviting gathering space for students. It will brighten up the room and provide my first graders with a welcoming environment to grow as readers.
As first graders, we spend most of our day together on our classroom carpet.
The carpet is were we start our morning each day. Students participate in morning meeting on the rug, serving as the perfect place to build our classroom community. Here, children also receive direct instruction through engaging mini-lessons. I model fluency, decoding and comprehension strategies to build confident readers and writers.
