My students still are dealing with repeated impacts of missing class time and therefore instruction and materials that are not easy to migrate to the digital world. With these tools, we can annotate a book or a work of art together, and I can take the best of my previous resources to move over to more easily work digitally. No longer will students who choose or are forced to stay at home fall behind their peers, and students in class will be able to have greater access to making English and Art History more hands-on.
By scanning my teacher made materials, all students will be able to interact with the work online, practicing annotating skills on both written text and works of art. Particularly with older, out of print books, I'll be able to scan high-resolution images to work on students' attention to detail and inferencing skills.
Both of my subjects - Junior English and Art History - have a reputation for being frankly, boring, but by using digital recorders and art pads, I can focus more on authentic presentation and engage students in real- world application. I hope to bring innovation to my subjects which can be repetitive and tedious, so that students look forward to participating in activities and discussion.
