Hello! I am a speech-language therapist at a developmental preschool. My school is located in a diverse and vibrant area of King County. Over 50% of the students on my caseload speak a language other than English at home. Over 80% of the students at our school qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Our preschool program serves children with developmental delays such as Autism and Down Syndrome. The students are working on developing communication, cognitive, social, and motor skills.
The students that I work with are learning to use words to make requests and comments, socialize with peers, and solve problems. Students who are unable to communicate may feel isolated from their peers. Students with limited communication skills may have difficulty asking a friend to play, sharing their ideas, or making requests in order to meet their own needs. We work together to build those skills so that every child can succeed!
