Three years ago, I was hired to teach at Franklin High School. The first thing that I noticed was hope in some of the students. As I began to assess the students, I realized that all they really needed was someone to show care and appreciation for the art of music. There has been nothing but growth, passion, and ambition. The program that was dead, before I started, is showing life. There is a new era on the horizon, and the music department has practically doubled in curriculum, students, and energy. At first, all we had was a concert band and beginning band (not counting the orchestra and choir). Now, we've added a marching band, pep band, drumline, and colorguard, and some wants a mariachi AND jazz band! I love the heart of the students. They are literally changing the culture of the school and student body, one note at a time.
