My school is in one of the largest urban school districts in the country. The students come from diverse backgrounds. The entire student body receives free/reduced lunch, classifying us as a Title 1 school. Students are Hispanic, African-American, Asian, various European descents, and mixed races. There are several students in each class classified as English Language Learners (ELL). There are also students in each class who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Most students are the first in their families going to college. Their parents often work two jobs and the students themselves often work to help with family needs. Many come from single parent households. The students have great character; however, they are less familiar with success than their hard work justifies and they greatly need equipment to help them reach their potential.
