I have a diverse group of 25 first graders in a school of over 900. We have a very transient population and many students leave difficult home lives behind when they come to school each day. My first goal of teaching has always been to create a warm and inviting environment that my kids want to be in. I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and motivated by what is around them. For so many of my kids school is the only place they are allowed to be a kid. My class this year is full of kids that are eager to learn and really get excited about what's happening in the classroom.

About my class
