Our day consists of all small group work rotations in the classroom. The students transition to different groups from individual teacher instruction to curriculum work on the computers. Small group instruction allows for the students to focus on and attend to the presented tasks, it also allows classroom staff to provide consistent redirection to task for students that are easily distracted in the classroom.
Donating to our project will allow the students in my classroom to have consistent staff support when working on new and familiar tasks, which will increase their success in completion of tasks related to the curriculum and their individual goals. The table will allow my students to be able to work and have a teacher or other staff member available for support. It will also increase their ability to attend to tasks because the tables are sized perfectly for small group work. The stools will provide my students with the ability to utilize alternative seating when a typical chair is not comfortable. The chair bands will allow my students to fidget while working at the computer, thus keeping their attention on the computer task.
