Since most of my students will never leave the state of Texas or even their community I want to help connect our learning with real life and worldly events. I encourage my kids to read daily and try and find fun and creative ways to build on our learning. Through ATPE my principal, and other organizations I am learning to break through convention and am able to "think outside the box."
With your help I want to give my students chances to expand not only their worldly knowledge, but also their reading, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. I want to make a difference in life one student at a time. I am passionate about reading and teaching, however in my district with the limited funds we have my budget doesn't always allow what I need for my kids.
Scholastic News will help engage my students, give them quality on-level nonfiction texts, expand their horizons, give informational texts which will grow in complexity as the year progresses, and give them online access so they can also see videos to go with what we're learning. My wish is that with your generous donation I can help build a love of reading through learning and help prepare my students for their future!
