I teach 5th grade ESL at a large elementary school in an urban area. All of my students speak Spanish or Arabic as their home language. I teach a total of 25 students in 2 reading blocks. My students have vastly varying degrees of English language proficiency. Some come to me without any English language at all. The growth that I see in these students over the course of a year is amazing. They are also among the sweetest, kindest, and most hard-working students anywhere.
