I just finished my 12th year teaching. I have been teaching 1st grade for the last 5 years. I usually have 19-21 students with a variety of needs. Last years class was about 25% ELL and 2% SPED. We are finding that kids that attend are school come from a variety of backgrounds and seem to struggle with structure. They are very loving but are very different learners. I believe strongly in giving children choices for their learning. I have some students that like to stand using books shelves or desk. Others like to sit on the ground or benches using lab boards. They are encouraging and thoughtful of how others learn. I want to continue to find ways to help learners grow and excel.
