My school is located in Hawaii and is a Title I school. We service students from preschool through 5th grade. We have very diverse population. The dominant ethnic groups are Filipino (26.6%), Native Hawaiian (20.6%), Japanese (12.5%), and Caucasian (13.8%). Other ethnic groups such as Korean, Portuguese, Hispanic, Samoan, and Micronesian make up the rest of the student population. The English language learners make up 5.6% of the populations. Our vision here is to create a dynamic community where we dream, strive, and achieve together. In my class, there are 22 first grade students. Their ability levels in reading and math range from pre-K to 2nd grade. They are typical 6 and 7 year olds that are full of energy and eager to learn. My students love to discover and learn new things. They are motivated, hard-working, determined, and always open to learning new things. They are the most lovable group of students that bring so much joy and happiness when teaching.
