My students have varying abilities that impede their developmental, intellectual, and social successes compared to their typical-aged peers. Somehow, when technology is involved, they come to life and all adversity goes out the window! It is one opportunity that they have to succeed at the same, if not better, rate than their peers! What a source of strength that gives them! With such physical needs of sensory input, tablets are an amazing tool for my students. They smile, they learn, they interact with the tablet and classmates, and they feel successful because they ARE successful.
We have a growing special education population at our school, and with that comes the growing need for technology/sensory resources. When they touch the tablet screens, they have a direct, physical connection with their learning. It is something they can all share and all relate to. It allows them to be an active part of their learning, which is magical!
