Lakeview is a low income/high poverty with a high population of English Language Learners. This school is a small gem in the middle of a big city. It provides a warm and welcoming environment for all its 545 students. We are a 100% Title 1 school where each student receives free lunch and breakfast. I am the lead teacher in Lakeview's Literacy Lab. We help struggling readers fill in the gaps so that they are working at grade level. Our English Language Learner population has exploded over the past few years and so the Literacy Lab has also been supporting their unique learning needs. They are sweet children with supportive parents. These parents want their children to succeed and know the importance of being fluent in English as well as their native language. My goal is to provide a high quality, challenging academic experience for all the students who enter the Literacy Lab every day.
