I teach third grade students that are well versed in a technology driven world. They are very up to date on the latest music, computer games, video games, etc., but are lacking in how to use technology to accomplish academic tasks. Technology is what drives them and captures their attention best, but I am lacking in hands-on resources that they can use daily in our classroom. I want them to understand how to create a project in different programs, how to type a word document, how to strike the keys that make them an author to a creative piece of text. I want them to understand that a computer is more than just a tool for playing their favorite video game. When used correctly, computers are the key to the future. Students must know how to operate them in order to be successful employees in the future. Technology is ever changing and and our students must be aware of this and be taught how to adapt with this change. It is my job as a teacher to instruct and prepare them for the future.
