My students come from different cultural backgrounds in addition to being from very low income families. My school is a high needs school and many of these kids don't have any supplies at home. The students have free or reduce breakfast and lunch. Most of my parents don't speak English and it is very challenging for them to help their kids with school work. These students don't do any art at home which I think is a very important part of learning and being creative. I teach four one-hour blocks of language and I incorporate Science, Social Studies and Art during that time.
