My students come from all different walks of life. We are one of the most diverse schools in the nation, with students who speak well over 30 languages from all social, racial, and economic backgrounds. My students are general level students who are very curious about how the real world works. They have mostly been let down or left out by formal math education that does not seem applicable to their lives. As their senior year math teacher, I view my class as the chance to make an impact and prepare my students for their future. My students learn to be the essence of high school graduates. They learn to think for themselves, act logically, be regimented, be success oriented, question data, speak professionally, manage money, focus, be accountable to one another, teamwork, and most of all persistence.
