You can't help but love my students. Their home is a tiny, rural West Michigan town, known for its blueberry fields and apple orchards and for being the town you pass through on the way to the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. Bangor, Michigan is a town high in pride, but relatively low in income. Many of my students come from migrant farm workers, moving back and forth between Michigan, Florida, and Texas. They are also children of blue collar workers who work hard to make ends meet for their families. These students haven't always had the educational opportunities of their wealthier peers in other districts, but they flourish when given the opportunity to challenge themselves.
