I service 90 under-privileged eighth-grade students at a Title 1 school where they are not afforded the opportunities and resources that students receive at other schools. One-third of my students are ELL and special-ed who do not see themselves as readers and often enter my ELA class discouraged with their learning deficit. Many of my students lack access to technology at home and are often unable to complete online assignments. Because some of my students' home lives are difficult, creating an inspiring and safe learning environment is crucial. My motto is and has been for the past 27 years, "Love them into learning."
