My guitar class is comprised of 8th grade students in a Latino/Hispanic section of Phoenix, AZ. Our school population is 85% Hispanic, and 100% Title 1 free and reduced lunch. The socio-economic status of our kids makes it hard for them to purchase guitars outside of school. I want to give my kids the opportunity to practice at home and be comfortable playing for an audience, and being able to take a school guitar home is invaluable. They take pride in their playing and get excited to perform if they are using a quality instrument that is not in disrepair.
