I currently work in a very low socioeconomic area of Orlando. My students are absolutely some of the most precious and eager to learn students that I have come across in almost a decade of teaching now. They work hard and come alive when they are presented with an interesting challenge; something that is different and captures their attention through its cultural and generational relevance. However, due to the lack of funding, the economic state of most of our families, and the lack of parental involvement due to the obligations of life we are left with students hungry to find interest in school, make connections to real life, see the value in education, and meet their full potential. Having such an amazing class of students has made me want to be better as a teacher. As the mother of my classroom, I am always striving to give my children the best, open their minds to what they never thought possible, and spark a fire to go forth, prosper, and learn at every turn and life experience.

About my class
