My school is situated in East Las Vegas, and we have a very diverse population. We are zoned to include temporary and low cost housing . We are a large school of approximately 1000 students, known for transiency. I am fortunate enough to get to work with all these deserving children. In the three years I have been at Snyder I have learned that It is not uncommon to hear stories of scarcity, deficiency, and instability. My job as the School Counselor is to remind them that safe places exist, that they are important, they are loved, and to help navigate barriers and teach them useful skills. I strive to create an atmosphere of acceptance, tolerance, fun, caring, support, and meaningful connection. I believe that all students should be so energized by the atmosphere of school they are eager to return everyday. I want to celebrate the innocence and beauty of childhood through unwavering acceptance and support.
