A group of students has joined the Lonoke2022 initiative and is a part of the Downtown Lonoke Support Committee. They will be doing an inventory of the buildings on Center and Main street to assist the committee with a Historical Preservation Grant application that is being submitted. They will use the Samsung Tablet to program information about each building: like vacant, used, condition, 1 or 2 stories and the condition of the awning. This information will then be transferred and mapped on the updated HP desktop and monitor. Once complete the group will map the information and join it with the database collected by the committee with the business owner information. This is the first step in making it easy to access information about available buildings and those that need to be improved. This is a perfect STUDENT LED EAST project that involves community. These students want their community to be somewhere to raise their own kids! While making their community better they will also be learning new technology, mapping, software, leadership skills, history preservation, and collaboration.
