One hundred percent of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch. We are an urban school in St. Louis with a ninety-nine percent African-American population. My students are fun, energetic and they love to learn. Many of my students have a lot to worry about at home and I strive to make school as fun and as safe as possible. They are excited about reading and they are thrilled when they see site words or words they know on signs and in books. I've taught in three different schools and have never seen students so excited and eager to learn.
