It's easy to get distracted with the 21st century bells and whistles but classroom still need the essential materials for achieve success.
In my experience, majority of my students will be prepared with enough supplies to make it through 50 days of instruction, with the other 130 left to my supplies or site resources.
I never want a student to feel left out of a lesson or activity simply because they weren't provided with supplies. I don't want them to be distracted by the fact that they lost a personal supply and don't have a replacement. Kids have enough to worry about in their little lives, I want them to worry about less.
In assuring that I have supplies to provide them with, it allows me to focus on my curriculum development and not school supply sales all year.
With these supplies my students will have pencils to use at all times, even if they forget theirs to home. They will have the coloring utensils for the science lab notebooks. Colors will help detail their observations. These notebooks also have components that need to be glued in, they can have those supplies available. The markers allow for them to collaborate with their peers on white boards.
