This year I am focusing on creating a stimulating and exciting classroom environment for my new class of Transitional Kindergarteners.
As their first experience in school, I want them to thrive in an environment that makes them feel supported and comfortable to learn in. I am implementing flexible seating in my TK classroom. I am using the different varieties of seating to help four year olds with the "wiggles" have that mobility, but still be able to focus on their learning of the tasks they are working on. For example, students will use the stability balls for strengthening their core. Research has shown that when students are sitting up right with a tight core they are accessing both sides of their brain. I plan to use these seats at my guided reading center. The rocker seats I plan on using in my library center and iPad center. This will give the students a comfortable place to read and learn to enjoy literature in a non stressful environment.
