I teach in a low-income public school where there is a shortage of individuals who believe in students from this community. My students have had their share of teachers in and out of their lives and I am their first consistent Language Arts teacher in 3 years. Because of these issues, my kids' need for a reading teacher is high and excitement for the subject low. We have made much progress setting behavioral standards, but we also have much further to go. The implementation of a strong structure has helped in this process. I know that the MegaTimer and Yacker Tracker will help my students be even more productive by holding them accountable for completing their work and following the expectations that have been set for them.
