The materials I have requested will enhance student engagement. Instead of sitting at their desks to do work, they will have options on which seating they prefer. The yoga mats will provide a soft, cushion for students to sit or lay on while doing work or reading. Since there is no carpet space in my classroom it can feel a bit "cold" when kids are on the floor so this would be fun for students to sit on. The circle foam seats from Lakeshore Learning would be another option for being comfortable and cozy in the classroom. A different option than just a regular desk is the wobble seats. Those would be a nice addition for the students in my room that are always on the go and like to get their wiggles out without bothering others learning. Since the wiggle chairs are slim in size they would fit easily in the classroom and could be used anywhere because they would be lightweight for students to move. Balance/ exercise balls and the scoop chairs would support student fun while also adding to the physical benefits of helping students with balance and core body strength! Using Flexible seating options will provide students with a voice in how they want to work for that given day. Students will work individually and or in group activities from these flexible seating choices. I have no doubt that my class would benefit from the flexible seating I want to implement in my teaching this school year. I have had interest in flexible seating but have never been able to get materials to cover a whole class of students.
