The books I am requesting for my students will be used to help to engage them and their families as readers. They have very little choices at home for reading materials. These books will give them opportunities to enjoy quality texts together. Reading and the love of reading begins at home. Studies have shown that children who are read to at home do better in school than children who do not have this advantage. These books will be an integral part of a fun literacy event in which students will be given opportunities to read and participate in literacy activities with their families. The project is designed to foster a love of reading for students and their families.
