Many of the chapter books I have are too difficult for my current second graders. I need something to bridge the gap between first grade and second grade. This year's students came to me at a lower reading level than I am used to seeing. Part of this could certainly be attributed to what has happened in schools over the last 2 years due to COVID-19. They want to read big chapter books, but they are not quite ready. We need some beginning chapter books. I am hoping to get books that help the children feel like they are reading "big kid books", but these books will have a difficulty level that will match their ability level.
