The purpose of the project is to make the playing-field for my students equal. I have many students who are struggling with their everyday expenses. Some students struggle to shower, do their laundry and work overnight. The supplies would help limit the burden on their parents and the staffing community. Pens and pencils are a serious issue in my classroom because students do not have many. I have students who walk in and cannot work because they do not have a writing utensil. I try to provide pens and pencils but because there are so many classes they seem to be misplaced or used by students who are in dire need. The purpose of this project is to provide students with sensory issues with headphones so that they can have the same opportunities as the other students. I find that students who cannot focus because of noise do 40% worse than students who do not have these issues. The headphone jacks are for ESL/ELL children who struggle with language acquisition. We plan on using apps like Google Translate and Skype to help bridge the language barrier. The headphones provide a scaffold to videos on the computer or their phones. Plickers is a program that gives students the ability to answer a question without their partner seeing the answer directly.
