My students attend an urban school with approximately two hundred and sixty students, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. They are experiencing a transformation both in their neighborhood and within the halls of their school. My students face the challenges of living and learning within the grips of poverty. The school's data shows that my students continue to struggle with mastering grade level standards in literacy and mathematics. Despite my students' circumstances, they want to be successful and deserve the opportunity to work in a collaborative manner that will prepare them to not only graduate from high school, but also be college and career ready.
