I teach a self-contained 1st-2nd grade class for students with autism. Our school is located in an urban, diverse neighborhood with students from many backgrounds. presenting many of our students with considerable socioeconomic barriers. The students in my class face significant learning barriers. In our classroom we try to tear down these barriers through research-based instruction, hands-on activities, and numerous academic and behavioral supports.
