Every student works and learns differently. When I give my students the choice of where to sit, the majority choose any seat besides an actual desk- some will lay on the carpet, some even choose to stand up. It is unrealistic to expect 8-year-olds to sit in a seat for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week and remain focused. Giving students different seating options will help eliminate restlessness and fidgeting in the classroom. My students need a variety of seating options so they can choose a learning environment that works for them.
Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. Some of the seating options that will be provided with this project are stability ball seats, wobble stools, and wobble cushions.
All of these options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning.
This project will significantly increase student engagement in our classroom. I want my classroom to feel like home to my students. It is so important to me for my students to feel welcome and comfortable in my classroom. This is essential for their learning.
