For many of the children in my classroom this is their first time in a classroom setting. Many of them have a difficult time managing and understanding personal space. The rug with individual squares will give each of them the individual space they need with the strong visual cue of actual squares and this will help them stay engaged during circle time and for other activities.
This rug with squares will keep the students aware of their individual space, helping them stay interested and engaged in what I am saying.
In addition to the carpet, I have added to my project literacy and math activities. My students will use these hands-on materials to explore counting, numbers, making letters and sounds, and then words! We will use these materials throughout the day, in whole group and small group times. We are an extended hour school and these activities will help extend their learning beyond the regular school day. Your generous donation to this project will improve my Kindergarten classroom by teaching the children respect for each other's personal space, starting strong math and number skills and building their reading skills. This will change my students' lives for the better. They love school! I want them to feel successful at an early age and have fun while learning!
