I teach 11 students with disabilities ranging from ASD, intellectual disabilities, Williams' Syndrome, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, and all with a speech impairment (from functionally communicative to completely non-verbal).
We are also a Title 1 school where 90% of our population receives free and reduced lunch (including all of my students) and my students in particular receive daily instruction in not only reading, math, science, and social studies but in social and communication skills and most importantly LIFE SKILLS (included but not limited to: laundry including folding and storing procedures; basic cooking tasks of measuring, timing, microwave use; washing dishes; personal hygiene tasks of teeth brushing, showering, washing hands and potty training).
My staff and I work hard every day to ensure that we are teaching them to be happy, healthy and productive members of society to the best of their ability.
