Throughout my years teaching at Chandler High School, I have had many students who do not have the resources to get the materials they need for learning. Even as a teacher, I am not provided the simple necessities for teaching. Half way through the year, my staplers broke, all the pencils that I provided were out, my markers were used up, tissues were no longer available, etc.
It is the simplicity of my request to ask for the basic materials that any classroom should have. My kids need assistance in organization, which is essential in their foundation to their future. Most students do not want to keep their papers for studying, so I have them use folders for organizational purposes that I leave in my classroom. They will use a folder per semester, ideally for each quarter because they do get used up. I feel passionate to help these students because their hearts are certainly in the place of learning. Having a teacher who believes and is able to provide will help ignite a spark that may not have been there because of the simplicity of compassion.
