The books I have selected will instantly fall into the hands of eager, focused children. Some of the books I'm requesting are Emerging Readers, Soccer Star, Nino Wrestles the World, Martha Speaks Early Readers, Rosie Revere, Tacky the Penguin, Hamster Princess, Around Town, Everyone Can Learn to Ride a Bicycle, The Life and Times of the Honeybee, and What Do Living Things Need? I want to offer my newcomers and other English learners a wide variety of literature that they can enjoy every day. I have a wide selection of grade-level books, but need an infusion of easier-to-read books for my students who are new to English, as well as for those who are struggling with literacy. I selected books that are of high interest to my students, with appealing topics and art, and language that is immediately accessible to them. I want all of my students to be successful and joyful readers. They especially like partner reading with each other. These books will generate many, many hours of purposeful, comfortable reading.
