We are an inner city school with approximately 1,000 students. As the librarian, I see approximately 500 students a week. My students are primarily children in grades kindergarten through grade 2. They are a diverse community in a low income area. They are enthusiastic about learning and their visits to our school library. Yet, often do not have all supplies necessary to complete projects. They are eager to learn and tackle new tasks. As school librarian I try to expose them to new literature, as well as, loved literature with the hope of building a love for reading. I try to give them different experiences with books, but at times it is a struggle when not all have necessary supplies.
