In our special day, mild-moderate classroom students are learning strategies to help them learn and overcome despite their disabilities. In order to do so, a skill they need to learn the quickest is how to deescalate themselves when and if their emotions take control. I have provided my students with an area to do deescalate and or take a break in however; I am still monitoring their time for them and they do not have chairs to use in that area. As our goal is to be as independent as possible, with our learning and success, these beanbag chairs and the timer would help my students by allowing them the opportunity to show me, as well as themselves, that they are independent PROUD Knights.
