I am privileged to spend my days teaching gifted and talented students in a Title 1, PreK-8, school in a major metropolitan city. The students I work with daily are in grades 3 through 8. Depending on their "gifts", I work with these students either in a push-in model where I go to their class and work with them to deepen thinking and add rigor to their learning or I lead the kids in a pull-out setting where they come to me for content replacement, typically with a year of acceleration.
For our middle school students, I work with them daily on enrichment units of study to stretch and grow their thinking in highly engaging and interactive units to catch their interest. As such, we've done a Civil War simulation with primary source documents, a Zombie geography unit to plan using data and graphic novels as our texts, creative writing units using fine works of art and photography to inspire writing, and a debate unit using an interactive unit from the same series I'm seeking more titles.
