The HP Chromebooks requested will be used in myriad ways. Having additional Chromebooks in the classroom will enable students to research topics of interest, type and share their writing pieces in Google docs, and complete differentiated reading and math tasks depending on their abilities. The school I teach at pays for a website that places students in reading and math lessons at their individual levels, therefore having Chromebooks will allow students without computers/internet access at home the opportunity to do so at school.
Due to decreased funding, my school has not been able to keep up with replacing outdated and slow desktop computers. These Chromebooks will enable us to increase the amount of time students use technology in a multitude of ways. Students will be able to research information according to their interests with much more frequency than they do with their typical once a week technology class. Student engagement will increase when they are given the choice to read a variety of articles based on their interests and reading levels. Having access to current technology will support students in learning necessary 21st century skills. These Chromebooks will aid in increasing creativity, productivity, and motivation to learn.
