My babies (3rd grade) come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of my students come from a 2-parent home where the majority of my kids come from broken homes where one parent resides or grandparents. Our school is a Title I school with 90% of our students being on free and reduced lunches. As teachers, we don't always teach the curriculum that the district requires as we might find ourselves nurturing, guiding and helping the kids excel in everyday life skills. These babies come to school for the hot meals and love and attention that they might be missing from their homes.
