I will be using these books to teach diversity, growth mindset, and self-esteem. I can read and discuss them with my students during Google Meets. I have a class that is multicultural and I want to include their culture in class discussions. These books will help students to learn that differences are good. For example the book I Am New Here is a book that all of the students will know something about. They will be new to our class and will know about being nervous to meet new people and be in a new environment. We will talk about how we feel meeting new friends, how to talk to each other and how to make them feel a part of our class. When we do a Google Meet, the students will talk to each other and find out what they are doing. I like to have students share something about themselves the first week of school so that we can get to know each other. Building a sense of community helps all feel included and a part of our class.
We all are going to learn to be a better person, friend, and how to include everyone. Each student has something to teach the rest of the class. Each student is a unique individual and has so much to share with the class. We all can become better to make the world a better place.
