I have a very diverse second grade classroom. I have students that excel at reading and math and then I have students that have never been to school before and don't speak the language. These World Relief students have come to America to escape danger and hardship. It is a joy to watch them grow and learn. They soak up the culture and language and are so appreciative of all the support they receive. My school has a large population of low income families so school supplies are limited as well as parental support. It is very challenging to meet the needs of all of my students. I have found that my students learn best with hands-on materials because they can manipulate them and explore individually.
