My school sets very high standards for its students. My students are unique. They each have different abilities, as well as struggles. My students leave their general education classrooms to come to my room where they receive intense, modified intervention to help them in their areas of struggle. Much of this intervention is done through social skills teaching and practicing. Many of my students struggle with a variety of behaviors including coping with frustrating situations, communication, motivation, self esteem, and behavior regulation. It is difficult to motivate my students, make them enjoy school, and most importantly feel good about themselves when they know they are different from others.
