My students recently took a school climate survey and many of them reported being hungry throughout different times of the school day.
The students reported that they would be more motivated to attend school if snacks were provided. School breakfast and lunch were reported as not being enough to hold them over for an entire school day.
Additionally, students reported that snacks would help them focus more closely on their work. Many of them shared that they work late nights and either do not have adequate food at home or they do not have enough food at home to pack snacks.
If funded, the food items requested would be available to students throughout the school day and after-school. A bowl of snacks would be placed in each of the three classrooms and stored by the English teacher in a locked classroom cabinet each day after school and over weekends and holidays.
